Edit PDF / in place
Quick answer
Add the PDF and click the line you want to change. Type the new text, or clear it to delete the line, and press Enter. Use Add text to write somewhere new. Then select Download edited PDF. The old words are removed from the file, not just covered, and the new ones are set in the closest standard font at the original size and colour. Everything happens in your browser, so the PDF is not uploaded.
Privacy by default
The PDF is edited in this browser tab. The file and your changes stay on your device.

Why edit PDFs here
Edit, delete and add text
Lines are found on the page, so you edit the words where they are.
Changed and deleted text is cut out of the file, so it cannot be copied or searched afterwards.
New text keeps the original size and colour, in the closest standard font.
Type on any page, including scanned pages that have no text of their own.
The PDF is edited in your browser tab and never sent to a server.
Edit and download without registration, a subscription or a stamp on your file.
Fonts, scans and privacy
Fonts, scans and privacy
Add the PDF, click the line you want to change, type the new text and download the edited copy. There is no signup and no watermark.
Yes, where the PDF allows it: the old words are cut out of the page, so they cannot be copied or searched. If some text cannot be cut out, for example because it is part of a picture, it is covered with a white box and you are told.
It uses the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier, in bold or italic as needed) at the original size and colour. Embedded fonts usually contain only the letters the document already uses, so they cannot be reused for new words.
A scan is a picture of the page, so there is no text to click. Use Add text to type over it.

Verify it yourself
The core tools run inside your browser tab, so a document you open here is not sent to FreePDFKit or to anyone else. You can confirm that in about a minute.
Wait until the page has finished loading.
Press F12 (or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and switch to the Network tab.
Choose a non-sensitive file of the type the tool accepts and process it as usual.
You will not find one. The page loads its own scripts, then the work happens in your browser.
